Edvard Andersson was born in Sweden in 1990 and trained at Konstfack, Stockholm. His paintings emerge from a sustained attention to the natural world — not as subject matter to be described, but as emotional and psychological territory.
Each work begins with a specific quality of light: the flatness of a winter morning on the Swedish west coast, the weight of a northern sky before snow, the particular stillness of a harbour at dawn. From that initial observation, the painting gradually becomes something more interior — less about the place, more about the feeling of having been there.
Andersson works primarily in oil on linen, building surfaces slowly through layers of thin paint. The finished works balance transparency and opacity, distance and intimacy. They are intended to be lived with — objects that reward sustained looking, that change with the light and with the mood of the viewer.
